By welcoming a limited number of guests, we’re able to tailor each dog’s experience to their individual routine, personality, energy level, and needs.

Exceptional care begins with knowledge, experience, and an uncompromising commitment to understanding the individual dog.
While hands-on experience is invaluable, my approach to dog training is grounded in formal education through the Canine Learning & Management Program, completed under the guidance of renowned dog behaviorist and animal trainer Susan Bulanda at Kutztown University.
My education extends well beyond basic obedience training and includes a comprehensive understanding of canine behavior and communication, both traditional and modern training methods, comparative psychology, operant and classical conditioning, behavior counseling, canine sports, working-dog disciplines, pet first aid, and natural approaches to canine care, health, and overall well-being.
We don’t simply supervise dogs, we understand dogs, engage, enrich, and thoughtfully care for each one as an individual.

Personalized Services
At Southpaw, personalized means personal. We don’t believe dogs should be placed into a one-size-fits-all program simply because they are the same age, breed, or size.
Every dog arrives with a different personality, history, energy level, confidence, play style, training foundation, and relationship with their family.
Our role is to understand those differences and create an experience tailored to the individual dog in front of us.
We also empower Pet Parents with a clearer understanding of their dog’s behavior and communication, providing families with practical tools that strengthen their relationship long after a training session or stay with us has ended.
Nosework & Sniffaris on 24+ Acre Woodland Estate
More than simply giving your dog time outside in a small, fenced K9 grass area, Southpaw’s Nosework & Adventure experiences are designed for dogs who need more—more space to explore, more opportunities to engage their natural instincts, and more meaningful ways to challenge both mind and body.
From introductory Nosework that utilizes food and reward-based scent games to advanced tracking, trailing, and odor detection, we provide purposeful outlets that allow dogs to engage their natural instincts and put their minds and energy to productive use.
For working high-drive dogs, these activities can fulfill the mental stimulus and physical exercise they naturally crave. Our structured, adventure filled walks reinforce manners, enhance engagement, confidence, and leash skills, while our Sniffaris offer a slower paced, self enrichment-focused experience, allowing dogs to explore our woodland property using one of their most powerful senses—their nose.
Basic Obedience & Core+ Training
Our DogSmart Training programs are built around practical skills that translate into everyday life.
We focus on developing communication, engagement, impulse control, leash manners, reliability, and foundational obedience while progressively introducing duration, distance, distractions, and real-world situations.
Training is adapted to each dog’s learning style and the family’s individual goals, rather than forcing every dog through the same predetermined program.
Behavior & Confidence Development
For dogs experiencing fear, reactivity, anxiety, overarousal, poor impulse control, or other behavioral challenges, we look beyond the behavior itself to better understand what drives it.
Through thoughtful management, training, confidence building experiences, enrichment, and carefully controlled exposure, we work toward practical, sustainable improvement.
