At Southpaw, personalized means personal. We don’t believe that dogs should be placed into one-size-fits-all training programs or overcrowded kennels just because they happen to be the same age, breed, or size. 

Every dog arrives with a different personality, history, energy level, confidence, play style, training foundation, and relationship with their family. 

Our role is to understand those differences and create an experience tailored to the individual dog in front of us.

Our curated small-group daycare is intentionally different from traditional dog daycare environments, where overcrowded playgroups and limited staffing can make individualized care difficult. 

Each dog is thoughtfully matched into a small, supervised group based on temperament, play style, energy level, age, and individual needs. 

By maintaining small groups, we create a safer, calmer, and more enjoyable environment where dogs can gain confidence through meaningful socialization.

Our Boutique Concierge Boarding offers a luxury, home-style dog boarding experience on our private 24+ acre property.

With personalized care day and night, our kennel-free environment allows dogs to enjoy spacious indoor and outdoor living.  

By welcoming a limited number of guests, we tailor each dog’s experience to their individual routine, personality, energy level, and needs.

The result is that comfort and freedom of home, elevated by personalized concierge-level car that traditional dog facilities simply cannot provide.

Exceptional care begins with knowledge, experience, and an uncompromising commitment to understanding each individual dog, whether they're here for dog training, dog boarding, or dog daycare. 

While hands-on experience is invaluable, my approach to dog training at Southpaw is grounded in formal education through the Canine Learning & Management Program, completed under the guidance of renowned dog behaviorist and animal trainer Susan Bulanda at Kutztown University. 

My education extends well beyond basic obedience training and includes a comprehensive understanding of canine behavior and communication, incorporating both traditional and modern methods. This expertise encompasses operant and classical conditioning, behavior counseling, canine sports, working-dog disciplines, pet first aid, and natural approaches to canine care, health, and overall well-being. 

We don’t simply supervise dogs, we understand dogs, engage, enrich and thoughtfully care for each one as an individual.

Our DogSmart Training programs are crafted to build practical skills that seamlessly integrate into your everyday life with your dog.

We emphasize essential areas such as communication, engagement, impulse control, leash manners, reliability, and foundational obedience, while progressively incorporating duration, distance, and distractions in real-world situations.

Each Sniffari is a self-paced blend of mental stimulation and physical activity, either on or off leash, giving dogs the freedom to explore our woodland property through their remarkable sense of smell. From fresh tracks to trails several weeks old, each experience can be customized to create a rewarding challenge for any dog and handler, enhancing their training along the way.

For dogs experiencing fear, reactivity, anxiety, overarousal, poor impulse control, or other behavioral challenges, we look beyond the behavior itself to better understand what is driving it. 

With confidence building exercises and carefully controlled exposure during dog training sessions, we work toward practical, sustainable progress.
